The
Neo-Noir ‘90s
Question
one
The Noir films are based around the time of mischief and
diaper, where people tried to get away with murders and woman that were up to
no good. In Noir film time, the setting from movie to movie ranges to petty
similar things like, murder, lust, and law breaking. The films are mostly set
in black and white, and the scenes usually hold a lot of crime and
suspense. Fashion in those days were
quite simple, most the men wore suits and ties. The men frequently have a
trench coat and a fedora on to cover his eyes or in a way make him seem more
devious or disguised. The woman of that era commonly wore dresses or something
that fit their bodies. They seem to hold a lot of poise within themselves but
they are very seductive in a simplistic way.
Within Noir films, there is a lot of drinking going on between both men
and woman, as well as with cigarettes smoking.
The
mood is set to gloomy and disparity, although most films are in black and
white, you as the viewer can still get a since of what type of mood the film is
being taking place under. Some of the
films will show rain and sounds of thunder. The films also show a lot of the
grey area between each character, showing that the good ones aren’t always so
good and the bad ones may not be as bad as you think. As for characters, the
woman sometimes hold a big twist in the movie, at times they are the most
deadliest person in the whole film and these woman get the role of being called
the femme fatale, basically meaning a black widow, she will spin you in her web
until she can’t spin anymore. The actors
and actresses hold a dark witty comedy within them, and the actor and actresses
snap back with clever remarks on quick bases. When watching these films I’ve
never caught on to these certain aspects of the movie but after the reading I
am really able to see certain things that stick out and can be related to the
Noir type of film making.
